As January comes to a close, so does our dinosaur adventure. We have spent the last few weeks learning all about dinosaurs. We are wrapping up our dinosaur chapter by learning all about extinction.
This sensory bin shows children the results of extinction by allowing them to "excavate" the fossils. Fossils are all that remains from the Jurassic period and helps us understand how dinosaurs looked and more. Children can also work on their fine motor skills by holding the paintbrushes as well as scooping the sand. This sensory bin also helps to work on memory with the different fossils as well as understanding object permanence.
All you need for this sensory bin is a shallow bin, sand, paintbrushes, a printed sheet with dinosaur bones, and mini dinosaurs. Use different tools such as shovels or scoops to help encourage your little one to "dig" and move the dirt.
